FAQ
What is Airchat?
Airchat is a push-to-talk, voice-first public messenger with near-perfect transcripts.
How is Airchat moderated?
Airchat has a self-moderation policy: users have powerful tools to fully moderate behavior on their content—tools that normally other platforms reserve for themselves. You don't need to appeal to us as you can remove offending content yourself. You can block and mute troublemakers. We don't remove people platform-wide for polite disagreement, or over politics, but we do remove people for harassment, impersonation, foul behavior, and illegal content.
How can I block accounts?
Step 1: Go to the profile page of the person you wish to mute.
Step 2: Click the more icon •••
Step 3: Select Block from the options listed.
Block is a feature that helps you control how you interact with other accounts on Airchat. This feature helps people in restricting specific accounts from contacting them, seeing their posts, and following them.
How can I mute accounts?
Step 1: Go to the profile page of the person you wish to mute.
Step 2: Click the more icon •••
Step 3: Select Mute from the optionslisted.
Mute is a feature that allows you to remove an account's posts from your timeline without unfollowing or blocking that account. Muted accounts will not know that you've muted them and you can unmute them at any time.
Why is there a minimum eight-character username limit?
To prevent squatting and reselling of popular handles, which are common with new platforms. Shorter handles can be earned through more activity on the app. You can request a shorter username by emailing support@getairchat.com or sending a DM on Twitter Dormant or underused handles will be reclaimed.
What are channels?
Channels are generally centered around a topic and occupy a separate space on your home tab, although you can also see posts from channels on your default Following tab. There are two kinds of channels: fishbowls and open channels. To speak in a fishbowl, you need a unique invite from the owner of the fishbowl. However, you can view any messages posted in the fishbowl. In open channels, anybody can speak, but the owner reserves the right to moderate your content. As of now, users cannot create channels themselves but can request that admins create them.
